Happiness is indeed the key to life, and John Lennon understood this from an early age. In our busy lives, it’s very easy to get lost in the routine and forget about what it’s really all about. I think we all need to stop and ask ourselves why we do the things that we do, and think critically about how we’re spending our time. Do we really want to look back on our lives and say that we spent it stressing out over trivial material worries and spending all our time working and delaying happiness? Everyday we are writing our eulogy, and I intend to live a life worth hearing and reading about.
But it’s not going to happen overnight. It starts with small steps, and for me, it’s making an effort everyday to focus on what I’m grateful for. Having an attitude of gratitude helps you appreciate life and puts you in a positive state of mind, that reverberates through your thoughts, emotions and behavior. To chronicle this effort, I’ve been posting on my Facebook status what I’m grateful for on a daily basis, and I intend to do this for the whole month of November, which is fitting because of Thanksgiving on the 24th. If you’re reading this, I’d love for you to join me and post what you’re grateful for everyday, and see how it makes you feel. I think the world would be a much better place if we all stopped and focused on what we’re thankful for.
